Daddy's Home

I can’t sleep I can’t eat
And the temperature is rising daily.
I see you in my mind.
Living without you makes me crazy.
I live on the road.
But I dream I come home.
And I drive down our street.
None of the children are playing.
I walk through the door.
I drop my bags and drop to the floor.
It’s so cold and so bare.
It’s like no one has ever lived there.
I say “hello. Is anybody home?”
The walls creak and the wind moans.
Then I hear ghosts from upstairs.
My angels are singing somewhere:
“Daddy’s home, Daddy’s home.”
