Hi Everybody,

Happy New Year! It is nice here in Park City. Too nice, we need snow. The ski slopes are not fully covered with snow. Fortunately Park City makes alot of snow.

My new CD GOOD COMPANY is mixed & mastered. Now I have to choose the right running order, which I have 99% figured out. Then we can finish the album artwork and manufacture the CD's. The album looks and sounds beautiful.

I am working on music here in Park City, performing in Salt Lake City, and working on the release of GOOD COMPANY.

Stay in touch and be well.

Thanks! Lots of love,

RICH

It has been an interesting autumn, to say the least. A lot of you know have been patiently awaiting GOOD COMPANY the new album. I am happy to say that it is coming along very well and we will be finished with the recording in the next week or two at the most. We are recording the final background vocal tracks and few keyboard parts this week. Then we will do the final mixes right away.
What happens then? We will send it off to be mastered. I use JLM studios in New York City. Joe lambert mastered my album Factory. (I still call them album; photo album, song album, a collection). While this is happening we continue to work on the album cover and that is going well. I am working with Hollie and Greg Ragland. The Raglands are old friends and have been working with me since Fatherless Child in 1996!

I had a bad mountain bike one month ago. Thank you for your kind wishes. I am happy to say that I am almost 100% pain free after chiropractors, message therapists, acupuncture, yoga, healing drum sessions, ayurvadic session, and time to heal. I think it is a sign to slow down. I feel good.

I know some of you have seen the article written about my family's housing situation. It has been rough. We rent a nice 3 bedroom townhouse in Park City, right across the street from the schools, in a nice neighborhood. We have never owned a home and Habitat For Humanity selected us and one other family for home ownership. For 3 years we have given our time and performances, and waited patiently while they had many problems and delays plus constantly changing directors and board members. It was exhausting. Now the newest director and board have "deselected" us. We still qualify but because they are nonprofit and the letter of selection is vague we have little legal ground to stand on. It is nasty but we have to move on. We still have a nice place to live. Life goes on.

A hell of a way to end a tour Pouring rain, Cold Outdoor show in the park. Everything soaking wet.

Last night's show in Steenderen  (also in the cold rain) was good. A lot of people (considering the weather) and good sound on outdoor stage for festival. The Grit backed me up and did a great job (again). I hit the demo button by mistake on my keyboard in the middle of a song and heard something that was not quite right. I looked at one guitar player Jeroen, it wasn't him. Then another Serge, wasn't him. Then the bass player Michel and drummer. Nope. Oh shit it's me! That song was fucked up but I don't think the audience noticed except for a few musician/sound people. I played a solo set then a set w/band. And then joined them for three songs in their set. There was a giant parachute over the audience and stage held up by a giant steel pole at a bit of an angle. Lights on stage very shaky with wind blowing and parachute going up and down in the driving wind. The lights had to be lowered on the stands during the show to keep them from being knocked over. So much water it started dripping through the parachute and onto my keyboard and several keys stopped working. The stage  was made of slabs of wood (like big thin 2x4's) laying side by side. I started pounding my foot and jumping down and rocking the show. The boards started bouncing all over the place. I don't think they were even nailed down. What a show! Still got the calls "One more song" "We want more" and came back on for encores. After the show the boxes holding the power strips, all the amps were plugged into them, was so full of water that the power strips were floating and the water had to be dumped out!

Earlier same day I played on 2FM national radio show Tros Muziek Cafe which was very nice. In a cafe/theater in a big modern building called De Vorstin in Hilversum. The host Corne was very good. Good audience and sound by Harme. Great piano Yamaha C3 in perfect shape. Desiree (my promoter) was awesome! I played So What! and then did interview on stage in front of this packed cafe w/ 150 people. But national live radio, very fun/intense/energy. After playing three songs I had so much energy after playing and singing like I would never sing again that I had to pace in circles in the dressing room for a while afterwards. Desiree came in and said, "What are you doing?" I said, "I was just getting going and had to stop and I have to get this energy out."

2:12 in the morning, another good long day. Woke up to radio interviews on phone after a late night concert/birthday celebration. So Nice! Last night's RCN show very good. Great sound and lights, great staff, and I really enjoyed it.  Performance tonight at friend's birthday celebration in the north of Holland. Today radio performace in Hilversum and concert in Steenderen. Tomorrow last day of shows this tour in Arnhem during the day and Zutphen at night. Thank you all for the birthday wishes!

Lots of love,

RICH

UPDATE July 11, 2011

I just got “home” from a nice run.  It is a beautiful day in north Holland. I am staying at RCN Northstar near Dwingeloo. I have a house in the woods all to myself for two whole nights. So I went for a run. I run two times for 20 minutes each, as per instructions from my friend and personal trainer extraordinaire Mike Hamill. So I stretch for 5 minutes, walk for 2 minutes, run for about 20 minutes, and walk for 2 minutes. Then I rest for 5 minutes and repeat (sort of), stretch 1 minute, run 20 minutes, walk 5 minutes, and stretch 1 minute. That is my daily workout! In the winter I do it on a stationary bike.

Yesterday, in Deventer, was beautiful. A gorgeous day! I played outside for two hours on a stage next to the famous old church that I played on top of a few years ago. (I have a picture of it on a T-shirt:-) Good crowd, mellow, all sitting at tables in front of cafés. Sold some merchandise, Ton went home, Bettie drove me here. Saturday night The Grit played pretty well.

Thank god I have today off!

Lots of love, RICH

2:16 a.m.  Sunday July 10, 2011.
I am in Arnhem in The Netherlands just sitting down to eat after show in Duiven. What a fun night! Remigius was a beautiful place to play. With the windows wide open on a beautiful night! I played a solo set of ten songs followed by a set of twelve songs with a band, The Grit. These guys were great. All of us rehearsed on Wednesday for the first time and we played live tonight. We will play together again two more times on this tour, July 23rd in Steenderen and July 24th in Arnhem. So come see me solo or with the band!

Last night I played a three hour solo show in Breezand! Very nice. Started the tour Thursday at Theater Kik in Elst. Beautiful theater with an upright piano which I broke on the first song! Fortunately Eelco my video man was a piano technician before video and he went downstairs during intermission, found a piano of the same make and model, pulled the same key out, replaced the broken key, all in about ten minutes! The show must go on!

Lots of love, RICH

Tuesday July 5, 2011

I am sorry I have not written in so long. I was not aware that it has been 7 months since I wrote in "Rich Talks" WOW! Where do I begin? I will start with where I am right now: Right now I am in Arnhem in The Netherlands. I landed this morning after a very nice 13 hour flight. Today it is beautiful here, warm and sunny. My frieds picked me up at the airport, we had coffee, and now I am "plugging in" before I nap off my jet lag. Tonight a nice dinner and tomorrow the tour starts with band rehearsals and a radio show, (I think). Jet lag has my head spinning. I will write more on this tour, I promise:-)

I look forward to seeing you all at the coming shows!

Lots of love and thanks,

RICH

Wednesday November 10, 2010

It is snowing in Park City and we are getting excited for winter ski/snowboard season! I am listening to the worst version of Maggie Mae I have ever heard on sattelite radio. Mostly good music to start my day just not this one. Working on new CD with David Rolfe, great producer. Tomorrow rehearsing new tracks with Shaky Trade. I will post the first track GOOD COMPANY so you can hear it here soon! Playing lots of Keys On Main shows. That is fun place, like family now. Nothing but junk in the mail and on TV. Life is good if you turn it off! Putting the mountain bike away for the year, that's sad BUT getting snowboard waxed and tuned for this winter is good! Going to Los Angeles for Thanksgiving to see my brothers and all the nieces and nephews and friends there! All the best. Lots of love RICH

RICH WINS 9TH ASCAP AWARD IN SEPTEMBER 2010!!!

RICH TOURED IRELAND AND THE NETHERLANDS IN JUNE & JULY 2010

I spent six weeks on tour in Europe this summer with my family. We spent three weeks in Ireland and three weeks in The Netherlands. I performed eleven shows in Ireland and ten shows with my wife Lisa in The Netherlands. I brought my two sons, Ian and Owen, on the whole tour and Lisa met us in Amsterdam for the Dutch leg. What a great summer it was. Not just the concerts but travelling and experiencing the different countries, cultures, cuisines, and more. Everybody had a great time and we are very thankful to everyone who helped make the summer a success and a time we will never forget! Maybe next year we will do it again!

I flew into Dublin (after a day in NYC) with my boys and spent two days chilling and getting over jetlag. We stayed at The Russell Court Hotel located right off of St. Stephen's Green in the heart of Dublin. We asked for an inexpensive room for the thee of us and they gave us a beautiful room en suite with two queen beds, a study, and a deck for 59 euro a night including breakfast! It The weather was beautiful and we enjoyed the city sights. We travelled by bus to Cashel. I played
Chief's that night (Lorkin pours great pints of Guinness) to an appreciative crowd. We visited the Rock Of Cashel and hiked around the fields and ruins. The next day we went to Clonmel and settled into Gleeson's for the weekend. Richie is a good friend and always a great host. Great gigs Thursday and Sunday at Gleeson's. On Saturday we took the bus up to Tipperary Town and I played Corny's, the coziest gig ever. The pints are good and Mark is a great singing host. Monday we took the bus to Galway. I played Roisin Dubh and we stayed two nights in an apartment they provide behind the club. We went to the beach at Salt Hill and walked around the town. Galway is beautiful. Wednesday we took the bus up to Bundoran, a beautiful town with a beach on Donegal Bay. We stayed at Marlboro House and I played Thursday and Friday nights there plus a last minute slot at The Seaside Sessions Festival. We got wet suits and went cliff diving. Mo (the owner) invited some friends so that night there were many musicians in thehouse.

I was sitting at the bar before my show talking to some folks. I was telling them that I had 3 days off in the coming week and I was thinking of going north to Glenviegh National Park and exploring Donegal County. I was asking where I could rent a car. This man I just met says, "I have an RV you can have it and take your boys for a nice trip into the north country." His name is Brian Sweeney and his wife Neeve just gave us their camper for five days and we had a wonderful little side trip thanks to them. Wonderful lovely people.

Mo drove us to a great surfing beach. We surfed and went cliff diving for a couple of days. After Budoran we went to Balina for two days and two shows. Then we drove up into beautiful Donegal County. Then back to Bondoran for a night and then bussed it all the way back down to Clonmel for four nights and two shows. I was lucky enough to take the boys to a hurling match which we loved.

Then we flew to The Netherlands. We met Lisa at Schipol Airport near Amsterdam. Our friend Jorick met us and drove us to our first RCN Park Potten near Sneek. We had a beautiful house on a lake. We rode bikes and sailed a boat on the lake for a few days before the start of the concert tour. i started with a small show in Nijmegen, a city I have spent a lot of time in over the last thirteen years but lately I have not been there much. It was great to see so many familiar faces.

We started the RCN tour at Noordster near Dwingeloo, outside with a little rain. We had another beautiful house in the woods. I had two great soundmen, Sylvester and Danny, and they did a great job and were good company on the whole tour. We watched the world cup finals, too bad Holland lost but it was a great match.

The next show was at Appelscha and we got to do an amazing ropes course in the afternoon. That night we had a nice dinner at the RCN restaurant (as we did every night show night) and played outside to a large crowd. It was a very nice setting on a beautiful night and a good show. I played shows at all nine RCN parks around The Netherlands. Everyone treated us very well. Most of the shows were outside and we had plenty of time off for a working vacation.

We finished the tour with a big show in RCN Grote Bos. Sylvester and Danny were joined by Richard so we had a great stage, lights, and sound. The staff of the park were great companions and helped make the show and the close of the tour a big success. They even joined me on stage for fun version of The Beatles song Hey Jude. Lisa and I sang together at almost every show and the boys ran the merchandise table.

Thank you Gerdien and Jorick and everyone who helped make our summer in Europe just fantastic. THANK YOU!!!

NEW CD IS IN PRODUCTION

My 8th album, tentatively titled GOOD COMPANY, is well into production with one song finished and five more almost complete. I am now working with top producer David Rolfe at his new studio in Park City. We did some tracks in New York and some in Utah with great drums, bass, guitar, and horns. I plan to stay in Utah and finish the new album this autumn and winter and release it in February/March 2011. We may release a single prior to that. I will tour after the release of the
new album. That's the plan. I will post new recording s at www.richwyman.com so you can hear the music as we make it.

KEYS ON MAIN

Have you ever tried something you swore you'd never like and loved it? I swore I'd never play a dueling piano bar. When the economy slowed down and entertainment budgets shrank or disappeared I called Keys In Main in Salt Lake City and they hired me. It rocks. Keys (as we call it) is big and beautiful. It holds almost 600 people and on the weekends it is packed with a line out the door on most Saturday nights. We (me and the other piano players) play at the same time on two grand pianos facing each other. The audience makes the requests and we play them. It is fun, entertaining, and unpredictable. Check my website or Keys' website http://www.keysonmain.com

SELECTTRACKS

I have signed with Slecttracks/Bug Music. This company will work on getting my songs into film and television. I look forward to success with Selecttracks/Bug Music.

AUTUMN IN UTAH

It's been a great year. I feel very lucky and blessed (you name it) to be so busy, especially in these times. Thank you all for your love and support. I have played hundreds of shows this year and I was able to take my whole family on tour with me. That is very important to me and not always easy to arrange. I know how fortunate I am to be able to do what I love for living, to live in a place that I love, to travel the world with my music, and so much more. I am truly grateful. I thank
all of my wonderful fans who make it all possible.
Thank you!

I will probably stay close to home this autumn, enjoy the outdoors with my family, and play shows in the area while I work on my new recording. This winter I plan on performing in Park City, at the ski areas, and in and around Salt Lake City while I finish production, do the artwork, and prepare for the release of my new album. Then in the spring and summer I plan on supporting it with touring.

See you soon.
Thank you very much. Stay in touch.
Lots of love,
RICH

Saturday September 4, 2010

Hi,
It is another beautiful morning (11:45) here in Park City. I am just getting up after another great late at Keys On Main. Wind chimes are singing in the breeze, neighhood dogs are barking, sun is shining. Not bad.

I am working on a new CD. I met with my new producer David Rolfe yesterday and in two weeks we continue work on recordings I began last year. I should have a singel ready for release in a month or so and a full CD early next year.

I am on a one month cleanse and feeling very good. Today is day eight. I am doing the Cleanse Smart cleanse which I have donbe many times before. The first few days can be rough but after that you hit your stride and feel great. A little mellower but steady energy flow.

I will be playing shows and working on new music for the next two months here and then, if enough shows come through,, return to Europe this October/November for a few weeks, and then return to Utah for the winter to finish new CD and play lots of shows, and then in the spring tour to support new CD tentatively titled GOOD COMPANY.

Thank you!!!

Lots of love, Rich

Monday August 2, 2010,

I was up late last night with a band called The Young Dubliners. They played an Irish Music Festival at Deer Valley and I have a pinge of a headache today;-)

I have been home a week from 6 weeks on tour in Ireland and Holland. I had a great tour. I brought my two sons Ian and Owen to Ireland where we stayed and played for 3 weeks. Dublin, Cashel, Clonmel, Tipperary Town, Galway, Bundoran, and Balina for shows. We also went up north into County Donegal and hiked for a few days. We surfed and cliff dived in Bundoran, went to the beach in Galway, and a hurling match in Thurles.

I want to thank all the venues that I played at for thier good company and good times!!!

In The Netherlands we stayed at RCN parks for 3 weeks. We stayed bungalows, each had 3 bedrooms, some were on the water and some were in the woods. Very nice. The 9 shows were nice too, some were big and some were small but they were all good (at least I think so).

I want to thank the staff and everyone at RCN for thier good company and good times especially Gerdien, Jorik, and Avka. And also Sylvester and Danny for great sound, lights, and crew.
Now I have a busy August performing and recording. I must finish my new studio album in the next few months. I have the songs written, 5 or 6 recorded and almost finished. So just about half the album is done. I am getting closer to finishing it!! Yeah!!!

Enjoy the rest of your summer I know I will;-)

Lots of love and thanks,
RICH

April 15, 2010

Hello. I hope all's well. I am listening to Democracy Now, getting ready to do errands and workout. Played at Keys On Main last night, always fun! This weekend I play there Friday and Saturday.
Next week I will be in Los Angeles for ASCAP Expo. I am very excited to go to the convention and see good friends and family in LA.
I am in the studio working on a new CD. It is coming together well.
I will be in the New York City area in early May, then back to Park City for my son's birthday at the end of May and Europe in June & July. I am planning a tour in Ireland June 15-30 and The Netherlands July 2 - 26.

Thanx! RICH

It has been an interesting autumn, to say the least. A lot of you know have been patiently awaiting GOOD COMPANY the new album.
